ABOUT
Jason Sharif is a proud native of Memphis, Tennesse and product of the Legacy Memphis City Schools Gardenview Elementary, John P. Freeman Optional School and Whitehaven High School. Sharif continued his higher learning receiving his Bachelor of Arts , majoring in Political Science and Masters in Public Administration from Tennessee State University. Upon completing his studies, Sharif began his career as a Child Protective Services and Juvenile Justice Case Manager for the Tennessee Department of Children's Services in both Shelby and Davidson County.
Sharif was promoted to Juvenile Justice Regional Coordinator, where his passion for learning and developing effective policy to transform and restore children and youth pathways for rehabilitative success. Sharif made the decision to enter the classroom, where he served as a sixth-grade social studies teacher at Craigmont Middle School in the Raleigh-Memphis community. There, Sharif saw first-hand the issues young people faced in receiving a quality educational experience. This shaped both his concern and further fueled his passion for education and community advocacy.

READINESS TO LEAD
In 2021, Sharif was tapped to start a Boys & Girls Club at Westwood High School to provide after-school youth enrichment. Upon completing this task, Sharif led similar initiatives in the Klondike-Smokey City, North Memphis community.
These cumulative experiences inspired Sharif to start his own non-profit organization, known as 'RESPECT The Haven,' a Community Development Corporation, dedicated to revitalizing the Whitehaven community through economic development, educational enrichment, and civic and social engagement.
